Inspiring Visit to Measom Drylining’s Northern Project!

On Tuesday, our Employee Engagement & Marketing team, led by the dedicated Richard Trigg and Michelle Reece, embarked on a truly inspiring visit to Measom Dryline's Northern Project. It was a moment of immense pride to see four of our past Rotherham Skills Academy (RSA) learners, Tomasz Noworul (third from right), Richard Pryor (second from left), Alex Katsaris (second from right), and David Bailey (far right)—thriving in their roles., flourishing in their roles at this remarkable company.

These talented individuals were given the opportunity to join the Measom team after successfully completing the Skills Bootcamp in Drylining programme at our Rotherham-based academy.

This achievement is a testament to Andrew Measom's visionary goal of having a team that is 60% homegrown!

During our visit, Brett Davis, who guided us through the site, shared his incredible journey from a Bricklaying apprentice with Henry Boot Construction Limited, to working on tools for seven years in Drylining, to Site Manager, to his current role as Contracts Manager! Brett's story exemplifies the growth and career progression that is possible through hard work and dedication.

We also had the privilege of speaking with ex-learner Richard Pryor, who shared his transformative experience:

"I've really enjoyed it. It's been a gradual learning process, but observing the experienced workers has taught me so much about measurements, screws, materials, health & safety, and more.

My background as a chef surprisingly had parallels to drylining – setting up your station, following precise processes, and breaking tasks down. The environment here is more physical, but it comes with numerous benefits. Each week, I feel myself getting stronger and fitter.

The team here is incredibly polite, courteous, and supportive. I used to work 7 days a week, and now I find the 5-day week physical and mental stamina required here equally rewarding. Everyone here is genuinely nice and helpful."

Richard also spoke highly of the programme at RSA:

"I thoroughly enjoyed it. The environment was supportive, and everyone was friendly. Our tutor, Tracy Mcgarry, was committed to health & safety and ensured we all did well, which resulted in a high pass rate. Richard Trigg provided valuable career guidance, and Chris Dalling's friendly demeanor and positive attitude made a significant impact."

Alex also shared his journey with us:

"I was initially looking for a plastering job, but when the Drylining opportunity came along, I couldn't resist the chance to learn something new. The staff were outstanding in helping me advance my career. My tutor, Chris Dalling, not only helped me become a better plasterer but also taught me drylining skills, which led to immediate employment after completing my course. The work I'm doing with Measom is going great. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my tutor, Chris Dalling, and everyone at Rotherham Skills Academy."

This visit underscored the incredible impact our programmes have on transforming lives and building careers. We are immensely proud of our learners and deeply grateful to Measom Drylining for their unwavering commitment to nurturing homegrown talent. Seeing our graduates thrive and hearing their stories of growth and success is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Together, we are making a difference, one learner at a time.
